2027 Collection | What Delighted You Today?
One of the things I kept thinking about while designing it was whether to include a reflection prompt on some of the pages.
At first, I thought I'd go with something around gratitude. It felt like the obvious choice. So many planners include it, and I've tried it myself over the years.
But if I'm honest, it never really stuck with me.
Every time I asked myself, What am I grateful for?, I'd pause... and then I'd almost automatically write the same few things.
My family.
My health.
A home.
Things that I'm genuinely grateful for.
And while those answers were true, after a while I realized I wasn't really reflecting on today. I was answering a question I already knew the answer to.
One day, I was chatting with a friend about how much I'd enjoyed building a Popmart set. As I was trying to describe why it made me so happy, I realized the word I was looking for was delight.
What delighted me today?
I'd never really thought about asking myself that question before.
How often do we actually pause to think about what delighted us that day? Not something life-changing. Just a spark. A deep satisfaction. Something that made us smile more than we expected.
The moment I asked myself that question, I found myself replaying the day. Not the big events. The little moments.
The aroma of the coffee that relaxed me.
The feeling of finally figuring something out after being stuck.
My dog doing something that made me smile.
Light coming through the kitchen window.
It felt... lighter somehow. And I caught myself smiling.
I wasn't trying to think of something I should write. I was simply noticing what had already happened.
That little question stayed with me for weeks, and eventually it found its way onto the 2027 pages.
The more I sat with it, the more I realized it wasn't just about delight.
It was also about attention.
About noticing the ordinary moments that are so easy to rush past.
And then another thought crossed my mind.
What if asking myself that question every day didn't just help me notice delight, but also nudged me to make room for more of it?
There may be seasons when that answer doesn't come easily. In fact, some of us might realize that our days don't hold too many moments of delight.
Maybe that's the gentle nudge we need.
To call a friend we've been meaning to catch up with.
To spend an evening making something just because it's fun.
To watch the sunrise before the rest of the house wakes up.
To try a new café.
To pick up fresh flowers while doing the grocery shopping.
Not because we need to fill every day with extraordinary moments, but because even ordinary days deserve little pockets of delight.
If one small question can help us notice those moments, or even inspire us to create a few more of them, I think that's a beautiful thing.
